OEE is calculated by multiplication of 3 factors:
OEE= Availbility x Efficiency x Quality
This kind of calculation makes OEE a serious test. If each of the factors is equal to 90% then OEE=72,9%. In practice a generally accepted targets in World Class are different for each factor:
| OEE factor |
World Class |
Availbility |
90,0 % |
Efficiency |
95,0 % |
Quality |
99,9 % |
OEE |
85,0 % |
Of course every production plant is different and if you have Six Sigma system quality of 99,9% may not satisfy you.
Worldwide studies shows an average rate of OEE in production plants is about 60%. From the above table a World Class Manufacturing starts from 85% and more. So there is a great space for improvement. And how it is in your factory?
